Kalomo Officer in Charge Chinyama Kapalu said among the suspects who were apprehended is a Taxi driver who used his vehicle to transport meat of the slaughtered cattle from Kalomo to Choma for supply to a potential purchaser.

Mr. Kapalu says the Taxi driver has been identified as Lefani Siabweka while the Clifford Mweetwa is the suspected purchaser of the stolen meat.

The group of the suspects apprehended involved four dangerous criminals who have seen both the inside and the outside of life of jail and have been terrorizing farmers in the area for a long time with cattle theft.

The four who are currently being held in Police custody include Marshal Mweetwa, Justine Mudenda, Charles Malumo and John Wamusheke.

The Police Officer in Charge explained that members of the public from Manicom in Kalomo district tipped the Police who quickly swang into action but only managed to apprehend one of the suspects while the others were arrested later.

Mr. Kapalu said the four suspects stole the three cattle at night and drove them to Manicom where they were slaughtered and packaged in sacks before hiring a Taxi to transport the stolen meat to Choma.
